Basementites might remember us mentioning Eric Bana's new flick, Deliver Us from Evil, back when it was called Beware the Night. Well, NAME CHANGE!
Deliver Us from Evil is scheduled to hit theatres in July, and the preview for director Scott Derrickson's latest horror/thriller dropped onto the Interwebs today. We've delivered it to your computer screen right now.
This trailer is pretty good, building some nice tension right before the big jump scare. There's certainly a Conjuring vibe here in terms of less is more, and I'm down with that.
Bana plays real-life New York cop Ralph Sarchie, who investigates a series of disturbing and inexplicable crimes with the help of an unconventional priest schooled in the ritual of exorcism. Edgar Ramirez, Olivia Munn and Community's Joel McHale also star.
I dug Derrikson's Sinister and The Exorcism of Emily Rose, so here's hoping this is another gooder, as we like to say in Canada.
Deliver Us from Evil opens July 2.
