I'm gonna toss this into the Enough Already pile, but given the success of Taken 2 ($376 million worldwide) it should come as no surprise that screenwriters Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen have more Taken movies in the cannon. A third flick has been greenlit.
No word on what the next Taken is about, but one can assume kidnapping will be involved. Hopefully not Maggie Grace (pictured), who returns as Liam Neeson's daughter. Olivier Megaton, who directed Taken 2, is back behind the cameras.
Forest Whittaker is in talks to join the cast. I will go out on a limb and assume he's the bad guy who Neeson eventually kicks the living shit out of. He'd be good at that.
All I know is I have no interest in more Taken movies. The first is an action classic, but it should have been left well enough alone.

Besson's dangerous use of Olivier 'stupidly named' Megaton is sinking this franchise. That and Taken 2 had NO script and was PG13. The joy of Taken is its steely eyed, lack of regular morals, focus. It's perfect. Taken 2 was bland and generic. Part 3 needs to return to the formula of the first or never get made.
ReplyDeleteI agree! Although I am leaning toward never get made myself. - J
