Christmas comes a couple of weeks early to The Basement this year as Jason and Shawn engage in some seasonal "cheer" with one of the two films on the chopping block tonight. Let's just say this is a Christmas tale right up The Basement's alley.
But first, the Basement Boys sit down with Rites of Spring writer/director Padraig Reynolds for a one-on-one chat about his hit independent horror film and the not one, but two, sequels in the works. It's an interesting and insightful chat that traces the roots of horror back to the 1970s and 1980s, and is a must hear for any movie and fright film fan.
As for that Christmas movie, the Basement Dwellers take on Steven C. Miller's slasher flick Silent Night. Genre faves Jaime King and Malcolm McDowell star as cops on the trail of a killer Santa Claus. Miller's movie is said to be a loose remake of the notorious Silent Night, Deadly Night from the 80s. Is this version naughty or nice? Stick with us!
Then get ready for something completely different as Jason and Shawn take on the short film Reboot, a cyberpunk story that tackles weighty issues about humanity and technology. The Basement Dwellers tend to shy away from anything that makes them think too much, but duty calls. And the filmmakers asked nicely. And leading lady Emily Somers looks good. We're all simple men here in The Basement.
So tune in at 10 p.m. PST at 92.5FM CFBX Kamloops and online at www.thex.ca. You can also follow along to the mad tweets of Mike S of The Corner of Terror on Twitter! It'll be a good time that doesn't last a long time. What more could you ask for?
Now, please enjoy this look at tonight's entertainment.
