True, Davi de Oliveira Pinheiro's Brazilian nightmare Beyond the Grave is as jet black as they come while Timo Vuorensola's Iron Sky is a lightweight and goofy ride. But both are original works made on foreign soil outside the Hollywood system. And both deserve a look because of this.
And a big thanks to Pinheiro and Lockheart Filmes for sending Beyond the Grave our way.
The big question, of course, is if either of these movies are worth the watch, especially more than once. Given that the Basement Boys dig end-of-the-world thrillers and hot Aryan blondes like Julia Dietze (see above), one might assume yes. But you just never know . . . which means you're gonna have to stick with us!
Speaking of original movies, Jason and Shawn take some time tonight to ponder if the era of interesting filmmaking is at an end. If you wanna know what the Basement Dwellers think, you're gonna have to tune in.
Which you can do at 10 p.m. PST at 92.5FM CFBX Kamloops and online at www.thex.ca. You can also follow along to the mad tweets of Mike S of The Corner of Terror on Twitter! It'll be 60 minutes of your life you won't regret, guaranteed!
Now for a look at tonight's filmed entertainment.
